Onha isänmaallisuus käsitteenä muuttanut vuosien saatossa kovasti muotoaan. Se kouluissakin harrastettu pateettinen "nuorukaiselle kuolla kuuluu" on antiteesin kautta muuttunut synteesiin.

Nykyinen käytännön isänmaallisuus on lähenpänä minun pirtaani. Toki nytkin olivat ne obligatooriset kynttilät ikkunalla nukahdellen Linnan juhlia televisiosta seuratessa.

Tylsää isänmaallisuutta vailla yltiöhehkutusta.

Ehdotan pientä ajatusleikkiä: milaista on sinun oma isänmaallisuutesi. Uskonnollisuus ja sotajutut eivät nimittäin välttämättä edusta kaikkien nykyajan ihmisten käsitystä isänmaallisuudesta. Nykyään isänmaallisuus on paljon laajempi käsite.

Tuo rajan yli astuminen ei ollut kaikille ollenkaan helppoa. Vähän kerrottua suomalaista sotahistoriaa on mm. vuonna 1941 suomalaisissa Laatokan pohjoispuolen yksiköissä levinnyt lakkoliike vanhan rajan ylittämistä vastaan. Sen vuoksi hyökkäys kohti Petroskoita viivästyi kuukaudella, parilla. Samanlaista vastarintaa oli myös Karjalan kannaksella.

Iisi, jostain syystä itsenäisyyspäivään tuntuu liittyvän se sotahehkutus, eikä oikein muuta, vai onko minulta mennyt taas jotain ohi.

Celia, ehkä isänmaallisuus liittyy näihin länsisuomalaisiin nurkkiin ja sitten tietenkin kieleen, mutta valtioon ei paljon tunteita liity.

Niinpä Kari, ei varmaan ole oikein sopinut kuvioihin, että tuollaisista asioista olisi kerrottu.

Sinänsä itsensä puolustaminen ja omien kuin toistenkin rajojen kunnioittaminen on tärkeä asia. Sotiin ja sotaan liittyy hyvin paljon tuskaa, mutta tahdon elää uskossa ja toivossa ettei väkivalloin kukaan ottaisi toiselta mitään tai ettei väkivallaltaa tarvittaisi puolustukseen.

Niinpä Hirlii. Minusta onkin vähän kyseenalaista, että onko meillä mitään valtiollista itsenäisyyttä, mutta Eu ei kuumenna samalla tavalla tunteita kuin itäinen naapuri, vaikka Eu vie meitä kuin pässiä narussa. Sen lisäksi rauhannobelisti Ahtisaari luotsaa meitä Naton syliin, jossa puuhassa varmaan häärii suuri osa poliittista eliittiämme muutenkin.

Mitähän ne nuoret miehet sanoisivat, jos tämän näkisivät.

Niin voisihan palatsijuhlien ja sotilasmarssien ja vakavahenkisen isänmaallisuuden lisäksi olla kevyem-pää ja iloisempaa juhlimistakin, vaikka tosiasiassa vieroksun aika paljon kaikkia pakollisia ja muodollisia juhlapäiviä. Paitsi Uutta Vuotta, josta ihan aidosti ja vilpittömästi pidän, koska rakastan ilotulituksia ja sitä maagista hetkeä kun vuosi vaihtuu.

Itsenäisyyspäivän vietto = talvi- ja jatkosodan muisteleminen, näinhän se tuntuu olevan. Aika kyllästyttävä kaava minunkin mielestäni, valitettavasti, vaikka sota-ajan historia toki sinänsä kiinnostaa. Olisipa hienoa, jos itsenäisyyden vieton yhteydessä keskityttäisiin vaikka suomen kieleen. Kieleni rajat ovat maailmani rajat, on joku sanonut.

Kielen kanssa vaan on se ongelma, että täällä asuu niin monen kieliryhmän edustajia. Mitenköhän suomenruotsalaisia hotsittaisi suomenkielen juhliminen itsenäisyyspäivänä, tai saamelaisia. Mutta periaatteesta samaa mieltä, siis että suomenkieltä kannattaisi kyllä juhlia.
